Colour Travel Series

The Colour Travel series includes multi-colour shifting effect pigments that produce a white bulk tone but reveal multiple colours as light hits them, creating a dynamic colour-shifting effect known as a colour-flop. This effect is achieved through multiple coatings of TiO2 and silica on the borosilicate substrate.

The Colour Travel Series of effect pigments use advanced multi-layer technology to generate a stunning effect. The colour flop is achieved with changes to the viewing angle, through three primary colours. With multiple deposition layers of metal oxide on each substrate particle a number of colours can be generated with a single pigment grade. Where there is consistent alignment of flakes, this colour change occurs when the angle of light incidence is altered. 

This is most noticeable with consumer products as the user moves the piece in their hand. The effect can also be seen on sculpted and shaped pieces, giving the appearance of a colour change to an object over a smooth surface. Where there is less consistent alignment of pigments, all three colours can be seen at once, giving a multi-colour effect to the viewer.
